Overhaul complete

The site has undergone an overhaul. For anyone browsing the site, the big change is the new theme. There are also changes under the hood: a better and cleaner way of accessing the article nodes should decrease the load on the web server.

The website is scheduled for an overhaul next week, which should be finished sometime before February 13, 2010. The theme will be replaced and some of the website internals will also be overhauled. If you notice the site being down in the near future, then it will most probably be due to the overhaul.

Added support for RPX

RPX has been added as a way to log into the site. This allows users who may wish to submit articles to use their existing accounts from sites such as Google or Yahoo! on Science Gossip.

Science Gossip has been created as both as a new news resource for science and as an experiment to see how well blogs compare to traditional media such as newspapers or television concerning science journalism. Unlike other science sites that already exist, it does not try to gather all science blog articles and it explicitly shuns linking to traditional media sources. The whole point of this site is to link to blog articles covering recent science news without overwhelming the layperson.
